Lenore Tawney was an American artist known for her drawings, personal collages, and sculptural assemblages. Tawney was a major figure in the fiber movement during the 1950s and 1960s having created a new vocabulary for textile works by subverting the typical woven grid and inventing a new way of weaving that went beyond the traditional boundaries of the loom.
