Toshiko Takaezu (1922-2011) was an American ceramic artist, sculptor, and painter. Takaezu is known for her way of creating ceramics as more of a fine art rather than a functional vessel. Her work contains rounded and closed forms– Takaezu combined inspiration from her cultural Japanese background as well as contemporary painting and sculptures.
